President Uhuru Kenyatta was treated to an eventful experience on his trip to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
President Kenyatta’s second day in the central African country involved attending different functions which riding in a black Cadillac Escalade fitted with a Kenyan flag to denote his stature.
His first stop was at Palais de la Nation, the official residence of DR Congo's President Felix Tshisekedi.
The two signed four framework cooperation agreements covering several economic sectors including security and defence as well as maritime transport.
President Kenyatta announced Kenya's plans to expand its diplomatic footprints in DR Congo by setting up outposts in Goma and Lubumbashi.
"I will never stop to be grateful for the support Kenya continues to offer DRC," President Tshisekedi said while thanking his Kenyan counterpart for being the only African Head of State at his inauguration ceremony.
DRC also plans to use the Port of Mombasa as a gateway to import and export goods into and out of the country.
The next stop for President Kenyatta was the official inauguration of the rebranded Equity BCDC office block in Central Kinshasa.
"Today, the Republic of Kenya and the Democratic Republic of Congo forge a stronger bond through the merger of Banque Commerciale du Congo (BCDC) and Equity Bank Congo (EBC).
"It is a moment of rare regional and continental pride, as we witness our local enterprises coming together in the spirit of One Africa, One People," the head of state said.
He reaffirmed Kenya's commitment to forging closer economic and social relationships in the region and across Africa especially as the world continues to suffer the ravages of Covid-19.
Kenyatta added that bilateral and multilateral economic partnerships produce tremendous mutual benefits, including more quality jobs, higher incomes, innovation, and expansion of markets.
