Churchill show comedians Nasra Yusuf and Rashid Abdalla on Sunday, April 25, tied the knot in a private ceremony.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Nasra confirmed that the wedding ceremony was only attended by family members. She, however, pointed out that the main celebration would be held at a later date after the Holy month of Ramadan.
"Yes it's true, we chose to do a private Nikkah ceremony due to the pandemic," she stated.
According to Islamic traditions, the marriage contract is signed during the Nikkah ceremony where vows are exchanged as both the bride and groom say 'I do'.
In other occasions, the bride does not have to be present in the ceremony so long as she's represented by two witnesses.
Traditionally, the Nikkah ceremony often takes place in a mosque and officiated by an imam. However, Nasra pointed out that the ceremony took place at their home with close family members due to the Covid-19 restrictions.
The two comedians first met during Churchill's show's Top Comic auditions in 2018. The two fell in love until February 2021 when Abdalla proposed to Nasra.
"I said yess, to the love of my life... my best friend!.. love you always," Nasra took to social media to convey her emotions.
Nasra, during a past interview with Daniel Ndambuki alias Churchill, recounted how her parents were ready to marry her off to an older man - while she was still quite young.
"My father had decided to marry me off, and so he brought an elderly man home. I could see white hair on his head. My mother asked me to persevere, arguing that the elderly man had only a few years to live," she stated.
Nasra, however, declined and insisted on pursuing her dreams in life - and to become successful in life as a woman.
