Huduma Kenya Centres, which are one-stop-shop citizen service centres, have expanded their services to cater to pensioners' needs.
A number of pension services can be accessed at the centres including change of pay point, claiming a returned pension, real-time status for pension applications, claiming dependants pension, obtain a print out of pension remittance reports, reporting the death of a deceased pensioner and obtain a print out of annual tax reports to enable pensioners to file tax returns.
The pension services are accessible in all Huduma centres except City Square, Kibra, Makadara, Eastleigh and Kajiado Central.
Claiming returned pension
The process takes five minutes and is free
Requirements:
a. Original death certificate
b. Dependents Birth certificate
c. Letter of identification by chief/asst. chief
d. Copy of ID
Change of Pay Point
Pension beneficiaries may change their pay points. To do this, one needs the following;
a. Details of new bank
b. Details of old bank
The process is free and takes five minutes
Real-time status for pension applications
Retired Civil Servants may check the status of their Pension application. The process is free and takes two minutes.
One requires their Personal number/ ID number.
Processing of Pension claim documents
The process takes 26 days and is free
Civil Servants retirement pension plan is managed by the Treasury through the Pensions department.
Upon retirement, one needs to have the following for their pension to be processed;
- Duly completed pension claim form GP-178
- Form GP 213 – WCPS contribution summary
- Letters of appointment, confirmation, promotion, upgrading and retirement
- Last payslip/ Payment Voucher
- Certified copy of ID
- Pension Commutation/ Bank details Form
- Income Tax Clearance certificate
Processing of Dependants pension
The process takes 26 days and is free
Dependants of deceased Civil Servants may apply for Pensions benefits.
They need to have the following;
- Duly completed Widows’ Declaration form /Guardianship Certificate form
- Certified copy of ID card or claimant and declarant’s/witnesses
- Original and copies of the death certificate, children’s birth certificates and marriage certificate-Letter from area chief/administration
- Bank details form
- Copy of bank card
- Letters from School/ College
