Kagwe's statement also revealed a stall in Kenya's vaccination campaign which has seen zero new jabs administered over the past three days.

As of May 15, a total of 933,826 persons had been vaccinated from the close to one million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine that Kenya received.

The AstraZeneca consignment, which was ordered under the WHO's COVAX programme, was manufactured by India's Serum Institute.

However, a few weeks after the consignment arrived in Kenya, India was hit by an aggressive Covid-19 variant that saw its government ban foreign exportation of vaccines.

The Ministry of Health is now awaiting an order of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

On a positive note, 43 individuals recovered from Covid-19 over the past 24 hours, 14 from various health facilities countrywide while 29 from home-based and isolation care.

Total recoveries now stand at 113,917 of which 82,806 are from Home Based Care and Isolation while 31,111 are from various health facilities.

Unfortunately, 8 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours, three on diverse dates within the last one month while five are late death reports after conducting facility audits in the last one month. Cumulative fatalities now stand at 3,021.

1,039 patients are admitted to various health facilities in the country while 4,714 are in home-based isolation and care. 108 are in the ICU - 22 of them being on ventilatory support and 71 on supplementary oxygen. 15 patients are on observation.

Another 91 patients are separately on supplemental oxygen with 87 in general wards and four in High Dependency Units (HDU).
