After consuming 25 mg/dL, an individual gets some warmth and happiness but the feeling becomes euphoric with lapse of judgement after taking between 25 mg/dL and 40 mg/dL.

After drinking between 50 mg/dL and 100 mg/dL, the consumer starts staggering and is likely to experience a loss of balance as well as slurred speech. A hugt 250 mg/dL, they will slip into an alcoholic coma and may die after taking 450 mg/dL.

Bosire further detailed that the liver has three enzymes that convert alcohol to acetaldehyde at the rate of 20-25 mg/dl, with the final product being water and Carbon dioxide.

She warned that excessive consumption of alcohol was likely to overwork the liver and cause it to break.

"Acute alcohol intoxication with respiratory failure (impulses of your breathing come from the brainstem), aspiration(contents of the stomach getting to the lungs), low blood pressure and heart failure(mostly due to abnormal electric activity)- literally multi-organ failure.

"Low sugar levels is one of the aftermath of alcohol intoxication, clinicians resuscitate by giving high dose glucose through IV. If this is not done timely, one gets permanent brain damage and dies," explained the doctor.

She recommended that individuals should take at most two 500ml bottles of alcohol a day or a glass of wine to maintain their health.

Alcoholic companies have for eons been running campaigns to promote responsible consumption of alcohol. Consumers are cautioned against drinking and operating machinery. Pregnant women and people under any sort of medication are also advised against consuming alcohol.
