Speaker Ken Lusaka has admitted to being the father of the unborn child of the woman who sued him for child support.
Lusaka in his admission to the court has claimed that he is not going to challenge the paternity of the unborn child.
Through his lawyer Peter Wanyama, Lusaka is trying to talk with the woman to settle the matter out of court.
His lawyer has told the court that Speaker Lusaka has agreed to take care of all medical bills accrued during the pregnancy period.
Lawyer Danstan Omar, who is representing the woman has admitted that the two parties are trying to find an amicable solution. He added that his team needs seven days to finalize the details of the deal.
This period was opposed by Lusaka’s lawyer who pleaded with the court to give them more time to settle the matter.
Lusaka lawyer revealed that Danstan is pushing the speaker to buy the woman a house within the seven days of negotiation.
Presiding judge Mrima directed the parties to continue with negotiations. The case will be mentioned on July 28.
Lusaka was sued by the woman who was seeking Kshs 200,000 per month in support of their unborn child.
The woman was also seeking the speaker to pay Kshs 25 million if he was unable to meet his monthly obligation of Kshs 200,000.
The woman accused speaker Lusaka of refusing to take up his fatherly responsibilities.
“That the respondent despite being a man of means, has refused and ignored to take care of the applicant's pre-natal clinics necessary to ensure the wellbeing of the unborn child perhaps in the hope of stressing the applicant and causing a miscarriage of their unborn child,” read the court documents.
The woman claimed that she had been grappling with different issues which were risking the life of his unborn child.
“Parties have been having a jolly intimate affair punctuated with several instances unprotected carnal knowledge since the year 2018 up until about two months May 2021 when they disagreed strongly after the applicant disclosed that as a consequence of their unprotected sexual encounters, she had conceived a child,” read the court papers.
