President Uhuru Kenyatta is hoping to tilt the Kiambaa by-elections in his favour following the embarrassing loss the party encountered in Juja, Kiambu, Rurii and Nyandarua in the May by-elections.

On Thursday, July 8, the president met with the Jubilee party Kiambaa MP candidate Kariri Njama and Muguga ward MCA aspirant Githinji Mungara at State House.

The Head of State received a brief from the candidates and the campaign teams on their preparedness six days to the election.

Jubilee party disclosed that former Kiambaa aspirants agreed to support Njama to win the Kiambaa seat.

On their part, the candidates expressed their gratitude to the Party Leader for his continued support and encouragement.

Njama and Mungara will face United Democratic Alliance (UDA's) Njuguna and Kamau Thumbi respectively in the Thursday, July 15 polls.

The president banks on Njama's win to reclaim lost glory while UDA is hoping to clinch the seats to affirm that Kiambaa is a hustler-nation stronghold.

At the time of the loss, Uhuru allegedly blamed Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju and Vice-Chairman David Murathe who alleged that the party had been rigged out.

"He was unhappy and blamed Murathe, Tuju, his advisers and government administrators for the loss, telling them that he never wanted to see them in the next coming days.

“The President couldn't understand why Murathe and Tuju kept claiming that they were rigged out yet the election was done publicly, same as the vote tallying," a source close to the matter stated.

The Kiambaa seat fell vacant following the death of MP Paul Koinange at Nairobi Hospital.

Koinanage had been elected on a Jubilee Party ticket and had served as a member of the National Assembly for Kiambaa since August 2017.
