Machakos Town MP Victor Munyaka narrated in court how he lost Kshs3.7 million at a car dealership.
The MP who sought the court's intervention in the matter stated that he had sought the services of Hyper Car Limited through its director George Chege to acquire an Audi Q7 from the United Kingdom.
Milimani Senior Resident Magistrate Carolyne Muthoni Njagi heard that Chege obtained the money from the MP fraudulently by pretending he was in a position to import the car.
However, Chege denied the charges against him although the Machakos Town MP maintained that he had not received the vehicle in question.
“I signed an agreement with Hyper Car Limited where Mr Chege is a director. I know the accused herein very well,” Dr Munyaka was quoted by the Nation.
“He is the one who sold me my first car when l was first elected to Parliament in 2013,” he added.
Dr Munyaka told the court he believed Chege would deliver the vehicle since he had bought his first car as an MP from the dealer.
“To date, I have never received the vehicle from Mr Chege. He also has not returned the money I paid him,” the MP told the Magistrate.
