The family of former Kwale Woman Representative, Zainab Chizudga, has issued an apology to President Uhuru Kenyatta after his speech was not read at her funeral.
Through a statement read on Radio Maisha, the family also apologized for not allowing political leaders present to address the mourners.
Further, the family reiterated that it will maintain cordial relations with all political leaders from the region and across the country.
The former legislator was eulogized as a devoted and selfless leader by politicians led by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
President Kenyatta also cleared the hefty hospital bill and offered a caravan to airlift the body from Nairobi to Kwale.
During the burial, former Cabinet Minister and family spokesman, Chirau Ali Mwakwere, stated that only the President's speech would be read by his representative.
However, Mariam Chidzuga, the youngest daughter of the deceased, requested Mwakwere to only allow Agriculture Principal Secretary, Hamadi Boga, to speak.
Mwakwere maintained that the family had early informed mourners no politician would be allowed to politic at the funeral.
His words irked a section of political leaders in attendance with Governor Mvurya leaving his seat, an action that triggered mass exit.
Lands Cabinet Administrative Secretary, Gideon Mung’aro, Kwale Senator Issa Boy, Lungalunga MP Khatib Mwashetani, Kinango MP Benjamin Tayari and former Chief of Defense, Gen. (Rtd.) Samson Mwathethe also walked out in protest.
After the politicians staged the mass exit, mourners who were believed to be supporters of the leaders followed suit and left the premises.
