Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyanjui announced that the accident happened at around 9.45 pm as Prengei was driving towards Kabarak. His body has since been moved to War Memorial Hospital mortuary.

"He was a quiet and humble leader, always conscious of the huge burden he carried."

"To the family and the people of Marioshoni, our hearts and prayers during these difficult times," Kinyanjui stated.
