The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM ) Party Leader Raila Odinga and his wife, Ida Odinga, were treated to a pleasant surprise on Ida's 71st birthday.
Raila and Ida were blessed with a grandchild on Tuesday, August 24, which was announcement by their son, Raila Odinga Junior.
In a public announcement, Odinga Junior stated that he and his wife, Yvonne, had been blessed with a son whom he said was a birthday gift to his mother.
He showered his wife with love and praise for gifting Ida on her birthday.
"She gave my mum the best birthday present in the world. Thank you, God bless you," he tweeted.
The now retired teacher thanked everyone who sent her birthday wishes on her special day. She termed the birth of her grandson as a double treat and an awesome gift on her birthday.
Raila sent a special message to his wife on her special day.
"Cha cha cha NyarOlwande; Happy birthday, my dear," read the message, alongside an image of a young Ida.
The African Union High Representative For Infrastructure Development was in Zambia, attending the swearing-in ceremony of the president-elect and his personal friend, Hakainde Hichilema. The Zambian president also wished Ida a happy birthday.
He was in the company of his daughter Winnie Odinga and was later joined by President Uhuru Kenyatta.
'Baba' then passed by neighbouring Tanzania to visit the families of Presidents Benjamin Mkapa and the late John Magufuli. He spent time with Mama Anna Mkapa and Mama Janeth Magufuli.
