The total net-worth of the four incoming Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners has been revealed.

Juliana Whonge Cherera, Francis Mathenge Wanderi, Irene Cherop Masit, and Justus Abonyo Nyang'aya provided detailed breakdowns of all the sources of their wealth.

The four candidates, who were nominated by President Uhuru Kenyatta, have a combined net worth of Ksh213 million.

Wanderi, the former Chairperson of Export Processing Zones, tops the list with a net worth of Ksh100 million. His wealth, according to the breakdown, is derived from real estate, agriculture consultancy and shareholding.

“On the statement of net worth and sources of income, the nominee indicated sources of income including rental income of Ksh150,000 per month, board sitting allowances of ksh75,000 per month, dividends of Ksh105,000, and farming of Ksh80,000 monthly,” the Justice committee says in a report.

Coming in second is Nyang'aya, whose net worth is Ksh49.5 million. His rural residence is valued at Ksh19million and also owns a three-acre piece of land in Homa Bay County.

Nyang'aya also owns a quarter-acre-land in Kajiado County valued at Ksh7 million, a Toyota Landcruiser Prado valued at Ksh2 million, shares valued at Ksh20 million and a residential property valued at ksh100 million in Milimani, Nakuru.

Keino also broke down her Ksh47 million net worth. She disclosed that she earns an annual salary of Ksh1.3 million sitting at the National Government Constituency Development Fund (NG-CDF) Board.

She also owns a house worth Ksh20 million, a vehicle worth Ksh2 million and land in Eldoret and Kajiado Counties worth Ksh5 million and Ksh20 million respectively.

Cherera, a former teacher is the least wealthy, registering a net worth of Ksh16.6 million. She owns 11 acres of land in Kwale, 1.5 acres of land in Kilifi, one acre of land in Makinnon Market and a two-acre tea farm in Meru South.

In addition, she owns a Ksh3 million family house in Mtwapa, 10,000 shares at a telco company valued at Ksh430,000, shares at Mwalimu Sacco worth Ksh328,000 and a vehicle worth Ks2.4 million.

The wealth declaration is a mandatory requirement for those seeking top public offices. It is meant to allow the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission to detect and prevent corruption when top public servants are serving in office.

The four are this afternoon set to be approved by Parliament for appointment by President Uhuru Kenyatta as Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners.
