Months after city actor Ainea Ojiambo was involved in a shooting incident along Moi Avenue in Nairobi's Central Business District, he has broken his silence on the matter and justified why he fired bullets.

In a recent interview, Ojiambo opined that he would have been shot dead by the thugs had he not defended himself by firing the two bullets.

The actor added that he wears jewellery worth Ksh1 million and on the particular day, the robbers were attempting to steal one worth Ksh400,000.

"The thugs thought I was a soft guy and they were attacking me. Naturally, I had to protect myself. If I wouldn’t have protected myself, they would have taken my gun away, shot me and we would be having one bad gun in the hands of bad people," he narrated.

"What most people don't know is that they also had a gun and they shot back. The chain they wanted to rob me of is worth Ksh400,000. When I walk out, what I have on me is more than Ksh1 million: the chains, bracelets, rings."

He disclosed that one of his rings was worth Ksh150,000 and the other Ksh170,000 and a bracelet worth Ksh80,000.

"I can put the money in land but now look the way property has gone down, and in case there is a problem, you cannot run with your land. When you go out, gold has only two languages: how many grams and the karats."

The incident, which took place on Friday, April 30, left a security guard dead and a passerby injured.

A CCTV footage had showed the actor chatting with a lady outside a retail store before he was attacked by two young men.

One of them started assaulting him while trying to reach for his chains before the other joined in to offer support and pin him down.

He would then pull out his gun as the muggers scampered for safety.

Ojiambo is a Kenyan actor famous for starring in The Constant Gardener, Bullion and Jack Zollo: My Life in Crime. He is also a private military contractor and top marksman.
