Before 2017, not a single photo of billionaire Jimi Wanjigi's wife, Irene Nzisa Wanjigi, could be found in the Kenyan media, or so it seems.
She and her husband had a knack for being under the radar, save for the two times that Wanjigi was spotted at a wedding of former Presidential Press Service director, Isaiah Kabira and at the burial of former Internal Security Minister, George Saitoti.
Nzisa would appear for the first time in the Kenyan media on October 18, 2017, and in just a matter of seconds, stole the show.
At the time, Wanjigi had held a press conference at their Muthaiga home after their home was raided by a battalion of police officers.
Nzisa's non-verbal cues, which instantly became a talking point on social media, hinted at a woman ready to support her husband through thick and thin.
Throughout the press conference, Nzisa had wrapped her arms around her husband, occasionally glancing at him.
The Public Display of Affection (PDA) was rare in the political scene, leading to the video clip's heavy rotation on local TV stations. It also did rounds on social media, with multiple shares on various platforms.
So much so that some cheeky Kenyans trended a 'social media' challenge out of it for fun. Nzisa runs an expensive art Gallery at Kwacha House, which is also owned by the Wanjigis.
She is said to have been among Kenyans who made initial donations to the Beyond Zero Charity Campaign after it was launched by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.
Nsiza and her husband have two kids who study at Institut Le Rosey in Switzerland. The school is considered to be the most expensive in the world. It is, however, not known whether they graduated or are still students.
”It is known as the school of kings, counting among its alumni the Shah of Iran, Prince Rainier of Monaco and King Farouk of Egypt,” Britain’s Telegraph.
In 2019, Nsiza was named in a fraud case after she was sued by a Nairobi businessman, Yogesh Patel. The businessman indicated that Nzisa and the husband had defrauded him of over Ksh 56 million.
Patel stated that the couple defrauded him of the amount through one of their dormant businesses, Aureum Limited.
The businessman stated that the couple had received the money as a deposit for a parcel of land in Westlands, Nairobi.
However, he decided to move to court when he noticed that Aureum's ownership rights had been transferred to Cissy Kalunde Musembi.
Wanjigi has announced his interest in vying for the top seat come 2022. Hopefully, his political presence will see the Country get acquainted with his immediate family.
