Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Onesimus Murkomen is not happy following the stalling of Kamariny Stadium in his backyard for more than two years.
On Saturday, October 2, Murkomen attacked Cabinet Secretary for Sports Amina Mohammed for allowing the construction project to stagnate under her watch.
“Madam @AMB Amina Chawahir Mohammed, from 2018 to date, Kamariny stadium has stagnated under your watch,” he stated.
Murkomen, who was ousted as the majority leader in the senate by the Jubilee party and replaced by West Pokot Senator Samuel Poghisio, took a swipe at State House and the Presidential Delivery Unit(PDU) for the stagnation.
The two bodies are mandated to oversee projects initiated by the Jubilee government.
For this reason, Murkomen blamed them for choosing to ignore their directive and focusing on politics instead.
He pointed out that since the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition Leader Raila Odinga, the Jubilee projects under their manifestos came to a halt making this is a failure on their part to live up to the promises made to voters.
“Meanwhile, State House Kenya and PDU Delivery are busy playing politics. The story of the government of Kenya under the handshake/BBI administration is that of broken promises from BIG4 Agenda to stadiums. Now a laughing stock,” Murkomen added.
Karaminy Stadium was among the nine stadiums in Jubilee's second-term manifesto. It was scheduled for completion in six months, but there has been little to no progress other than the track clearance.
Following such altercations, one netizen pointed out that the state disagreement with Deputy President William Ruto was something Murkomen seemed to agree with.
“Very sad for a President who was elected on a platform of national unity to become so parochial, especially against the people who voted for him four times,” Murkomen agreed.
The DP's fall-out with the President has been an anchoring point that Ruto and his allies have been using to call for support from the youths who sum up the majority of the voters.
