A letter allegedly authored by Machakos Governor, Alfred Mutua, to his immediate former wife Lilian Ng'ang'a, has been declassified as fake.

Kenyans.co.ke can authoritatively confirm that the letter, which has been shared multiple times on social media, was not written by the Governor.

A netizen with the moniker T. R. Okuna confirmed that he had written the letter on August 20, 2020, and cautioned impersonators against expropriating his content.

"Unlike me, she didn't want the world. Didn't want the fame. Didn't care for the money. Not like I did. And in my oblivion, I would wake up at 3:00 am. Sleep at 11:00 pm. To get her all the good things I thought she needed. But instead, I was taking away everything she needed," reads an excerpt of the statement.

"Writing, especially on lived experiences, takes time and energy. Everyone is welcome to share my writing, as long as they don't appropriate or expropriate it."

"There cannot be peace unless the owner of food is allowed to eat his own food," Okuna stated.

On the other hand, Machakos Governor has responded to the allegations, asking his followers to only believe what they read on his official social media platforms.

"Anything - write up, photos etc, that are written by me are posted in my verified Twitter, Facebook and Instagram accounts. Any other write-ups in blogs, WhatsApp groups etc, bearing my name as the author are FAKE. Please treat them as such," the Governor clarified.

The Governor and former wife announced that they had parted ways on Sunday, August 15.

Mutua disclosed that their separation was imminent and that the two were not destined together.

"Lillian and I have been a blessing to each other. Two months ago, we decided to slowly disengage. We are on amicable terms and remain very close as friends. We will continue to talk, meet and share ideas constantly," the Governor's statement read in part.

Mutua added that Lilian would be a close advisor as he governs Machakos County and ultimately runs for Presidency.

While announcing their separation, Lilian noted that the only constant thing in life was change.

“Winds of change blew my way and two months ago, I decided to end the long term relationship with Dr Alfred Mutua. We had a good run and I am forever grateful to God he brought us together. We remain friends," she added.
