Machakos Governor, Dr. Alfred Mutua, has warned that the people of Ukambani shall forever be impoverished if they remain under the leadership of Kalonzo Musyoka.

In a daring attack against the former vice president, Governor Mutua stated that Kalonzo had, in a deliberate move, made the Ukambani people very poor during his 36-year reign as the region’s Kingpin.

“But truth be told, in the 36 years under the leadership of Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka, the Ukambani region has become poorer, because he is not a man whose politics or ways of life lead us towards development. He has used the principle that as long as people remain poor and ignorant, they will still think that he is the master and he is the one who will be the savior” Mutua expressed.

The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader exuded confidence that the region was now freeing itself from the grips of the Wiper regime following Tuesday’s, October 12, trouncing of Wiper Party aspirant for Nguu Masumba by-election in Makueni County.

“If you look at the Nguu ward election that just happened the other day, 76 percent of the people rejected Kalonzo Musyoka and rejected Wiper,” he added.

Wiper’s candidate Eshio Mwaiwa, came in third, garnering 1614 votes, while independent candidate Timothy Maneno, won the race with 2902 votes. United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Daniel Musau, came second with 2219 votes.

The Ukambani region experienced a change of norm when the Machakos boss formed his Maendeleo Chap Chap party in 2016. He went on to win the gubernatorial seat with the party, dealing a blow to Kalonzo’s influence in the region.

Many leaders have since then drifted from the ways of Musyoka including Makueni Governor, Prof. Kivutha Kibwana, who ditched Wiper to vie for presidency through his former party, Muungano. He also expressed his conscious defiance of his party boss when he supported Timothy Maneno to win the Nguu by-election.

Dr. Mutua has also requested all leaders from the region to work together and help salvage their people from the pangs of poverty they have been living in.

“Let us now have the strength and the courage to free our people from this yoke of mind control that they have been yoked to for a long time, being told to remain poor and proud while they suffer.” He noted.

Nguu ward loss, has prompted the OKA co-principal to summon a crisis meeting scheduled for next week. Privy sources have indicated that he will be meeting his Makueni lieutenants to chat a way forward for the party.

Speaking on the Wiper party loss, Makueni lawmaker Daniel Kitonga Maanzo, intimated that in-house wrangles were the elephant in the room behind the party’s woes in its home ground.
