A bride and her groom in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, opted for a low-key wedding in which the lady of the moment wore a dress made out of ties.

A report by Citizen TV on Sunday, October 18, indicated that the wedding of Damacqueline and her husband was aimed at saving the environment.

The unique affair avoided products that would pollute the environment including plastic bottles and high-end luxurious cars.

The couple instead arrived at the event while riding horses and dressed in clothes made from recycled products such as ties for the bride.

Guests at the wedding arrived on handcarts, popularly known as Mkokoteni, and bicycles.

Tables and chairs at the event were also made from grass, sisal and old car tires while cooking fuel was biogas made from cattle waste.

"This wedding is aimed at conserving the environment because we have realised the world over that events are a source of polluting the environment."

"For example, recycling of clothes. You can old jeans or pieces of clothes and recycle them. Our bride today has put on recycled cloth out of ties because they can still be used as ties. They have served a purpose," explained one of the guests.

The guests were also amazed by edible plates, cups and spoons that were used at the event allowing them to eat the cutlery after finishing their meals.

"Imagine all the money that has been saved without using the ordinary white gown," the guest added.

Speaking to the press regarding the wedding that was put together by Moi University students, the bride noted that the goal was to save the environment.

"You can see our theme is written, 'Recycle, reduce and reuse'," she noted.

The wedding is a stark contrast from other weddings which consume millions of shillings and leave the site littered with products harmful to the environment.

Most of the brides' dresses cost several hundreds of thousands and arrival into the venues are often aimed at making heads turn with luxurious cars such as Limousines.
