Lamu Senator Anwar Loitiptip reportedly went missing after a brawl in a bar at Kanu Grounds  in Nanyuki town, Laikipia County, left a 32-year-old woman nursing gunshot wounds.

The police added that they acted on a tip-off from members of the public who reported that there was a shooting in the bar at 2am on Saturday, October 23.

The officers officers visited the scene where they recovered a fire arm that had 13 bullets from Senator Anwar’s security detail.

"Scene was processed and two spent catridges of 9mm recovered. Firearm body no.C987345 make CZ with 13 rounds of ammunition recovered."

The victim was rushed to the Nanyuki Teaching and Referral Hospital where she is receiving treatment. Doctors say that she is in a stable condition.

The incident came just days after Anwar was accused of assaulting a political aspirant  affiliated with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party at the Manda Airport Jetty.

Francis Mugo reported that Anwar broke his glasses, snatched his mobile phone and tried to throw him into the Indian Ocean, minutes after Deputy President William Ruto had left the county.

"I am disappointed by Senator Loitiptip’s behaviour. He attacked me immediately after DP Ruto boarded his flight and left Manda Airport," he stated.

Anwar would respond saying that the politician was just looking for sympathy votes.
