Unlike in former years where children grew up in the farm, tendering to livestock and helping their parents in farming, generation Z's are being brought up in city estates, missing out on all the village fun.

Limited spaces in urban settlements have made it difficult for children to enjoy nature or farm life.

With this need arising, companies are bridging the gap and creating spaces where children can learn how food is grown and livestock is rared.

"People are paying Ksh2,000 to have their kids experience life on a farm...Nairobi is just an awful place because these are things kids should experience for free but there are no playgrounds," Mariah Sudi, a netizen stated.

One such company is Adventure Farm Karen, which prides itself in rearing top-grade pigs, cows, fish, chicken, rabbits, sheep, and geese using farm-grown feeds.

In addition, the company encourages natural methods of tending to vegetables including; biogas slurry.

Here, children are showed where natural foods come from, how to preserve the environment, how to pasteurize milk and make certain foods.

"We host Kenya’s master craftswomen and men who produce exquisitely handcrafted items, turning the ordinary into the extraordinary.

"We are passionate for children to learn where food comes from. We host private family and school visits every day," reads an excerpt of a statement by Adventure Farm Karen.

The prices for such adventures range from Ksh1,000 to Ksh2,000 depending on the packages offered for any given day.

Some parents seem to have adopted to this new model to share time with their children, rather than going to play grounds or participating in numerous other activities.
