Police have launched an investigation into the brutal murder of a 70 year old man who was killed in Nyeri County.
The incident comes barely a week after the wife to the deceased was attacked in their home by the same suspect.
The two attacks are alleged to be in connection to a land dispute the couple was involved in.
The 6:30 AM incident took place in the couple's kitchen where the deceased- Peter Gitonga was warming drinking water for his wife.
The assailant reportedly went in and attacked him, raising a commotion which attracted Gitonga's wife who found her husband lying on the floor and the suspect standing over him holding a panga.
She then ran to her bedroom, and started screaming for neighbour's help, which made the suspect run off.
The assailant is said to be a repeat offender who is yet to pay for his crimes.
According to a report by The Nation, Mathira West OCPD David Kemboi said the suspect had been arrested and released three times after complainants withdrew cases lodged against him.
Police have launched a man hunt for the suspect who has since escaped.
