The former senator for Kakamega County, Bonny Khalwale, on Thursday, November 4, stated that President Uhuru Kenyatta should be summoned, for defecting from Jubilee.
Speaking during an interview on Citizen TV, Khalwale stated that punishing Deputy President William Ruto for defecting from jubilee is not right, because the president was first to defect.
He stated that the deputy president had an agreement with the Jubilee party, but they dishonoured that by clearly stating that they are supporting the Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) party.
“The Kieleweke side has been very clear. They have all defected to ODM, but the problem is that ODM does not have a pre-election coalition with Jubilee.
“If you must punish people for moving, then punish the Kieleweke side of Jubilee and not the Tangatanga side,” Khalwale stated.
He further added that the Jubilee party members see Ruto as the bad one, but in reality, the president is, and that he should respect the coalition they had.
“What is worse is the president himself. If there is anyone to be sanctioned between Uhuru and Ruto, then it is the president.
“Why you can’t push them out of parliament is because the party they have moved to is the party that had a coalition with Jubilee,” he remarked.
In response to Tuju’s statement of having Ruto kicked out of the Jubilee party, Khalwale mentioned that they should not be bothered because Jubilee is no longer in existent.
“The bottom line, however, is that Jubilee is gone completely, and people should spare us the noise,” Khalwale stated.
Notably, Khalwale expressed that the coalition between UDA and Jubilee is the reason that the deputy president cannot quit the government.
He, however, mentioned that they will obey the law which states one cannot be in two political parties at the same time, and will officially quit Jubilee six months to the general elections.
“We respect the law and we will wait for six months to the general elections, then resign from our positions and officially defect,” he stated.
