Today was a blissful day for Janet Adhiambo Ondigo, a woman who served the Deputy President William Ruto tea in 2018.
The woman who hails from Muhuru Bay, Migori County, did not believe her eyes after meeting the DP on Thursday, November 11, during his tour of Homa Bay County.
According to Ruto, Adhiambo could not make her tea today but decided to gift him fish to take to Mama Rachael Ruto, a gift that he embraced with a lot of enthusiasm.
After the seemingly successful meet-up, the country's second in command relished the moments with Adhiambo, promising to help her build a family house.
“I met my friend, Janet Adhiambo Ondigo, who served me tea three years ago in Muhuru Bay, Migori County. Since she could not prepare for me tea today, she gave me fish to take to Mama Rachael Ruto.
“I graciously accepted her request to support her construct a new house for the family,” he added.
The Deputy President met Adhiambo while on his 3-day tour of the Nyanza region, where he extended his campaign for the upcoming general elections.
The second in command was received cordially in Migori by an enthusiastic entourage, unlike in Kondele, Kisumu County, where rowdy youth on Wednesday hurled stones on his convoy.
The open-handed Ruto is famous for interacting with ordinary Kenyans where in many cases he has gifted them.
Last year, the DP gifted a girl who presented a poem to him in Murang’a with a brand new car. The eight-year-old Abilasha Muthoni and her mother, Mary Wambui, received recognition for their determination to make sure that Muthoni entertained Ruto.
The DP also gifted Kisumu Archbishop Philip Anyolo a brand new Mitsubishi Pajero in 2019, which he indicated was meant to facilitate his mobility within the metropolitan county.
