  • NTV news anchor Zainab Ismail has established herself among the upper echelon in the media industry.

With already five years under her belt, Zainab has been a constant face on the prime time news as well as the lunch time news on NTV. She is synonymous for her eloquence and her prowess in the delivery of news. However, little is known about her life off camera.

Unbeknownst to many, Zainab runs Seven Pieces, a cloth making and selling merchandise. While unveiling the venture in 2020, she noted that her passion stemmed from the love of fashion.

"A journey of seven thoughts...stitched together by love of fashion. Exhilarating, thrilling and happy quite frankly," Zainab stated when launching the project.

Branded as a fashionista herself, Zainab focuses mainly on selling orchid dresses- dresses that accentuates a lady's curves.

The whole outfit entails either a floppy hat or a hijab which is sold separately. The dress ranges from Ksh4,500 depending on the design.

"Modest, elegant and classy" are the tags associated with the brand as Zainab looks to establish her footprints in the fashion industry.

Zainab's breakthrough in the industry began in March 2016 when she began reporting and anchoring news for Ebru TV. After a two-year stint at Ebru, she jumped ship to Nation Media Group in July 2018, where she anchors news.

Prior to joining the media industry, Zainab delved in a lot of humanitarian work and served as the youth chairperson for the Kenya Red Cross Society Kajiado County branch for a period of two years.

Afterwards, she became a freelance photographer for various news outlets. Her past work back home in Kajiado led her to gaining national fame for her stories that delved deep into poaching as well as uncovering corrupt institutions within the country.

"During my undergraduate diploma course and subsequent attachment at Iqra FM, I was highly recognized by my peers and editors as one of the most accomplished and skilled journalist in news presentation and reporting."

"I was further noted for my role in spearheading feature stories including but not limited to poaching, my efforts uncovered the corrupt dealings in institutions that propagate the said vice," she stated during a past media interview.
