The morning of June 16, 2021, will forever be etched in the mind of Felishia Nungari, the mother to a one-year-old infant who fell from the fifth floor of a building in Roysambu area of Nairobi County.

Nungari had gone to the bathroom to take a shower and left her son in the sitting room for a few minutes.

It is his cries of distress, however, that saw the mother of one dash out of the bathroom only to find him dangling from the hanging lines.

"He was holding on the hanging line using one hand as he called out my name, but he eventually got tired and let go. I scrempt my heart as I watched him go down helplessly," she told KD TV.

She quickly wore a dress and run out.

"All that was on my mind was that I had lost my child, that he had passed on," she added.

When she got to the scene of the incident, Nungari found a woman who had already picked up her child. The baby was crying faintly but had not lost consciousness.

She took her baby and rushed him to a nearby hospital using a neighbour's vehicle. There, he was administered with painkillers and ferried to a better equipped hospital in an ambulance.

Several tests were conducted including an X-ray test which showed that the one-year-old had no broken or cracked bone.

He stayed in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for three days before he was transferred to the general ward.

After one week, the boy had recovered and was discharged from the hospital.

"It was a miracle, my son and I have been through a lot," she added.
