Amani National Congress Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Wiper counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka had a bewildering experience on Saturday, November 28, one that left them stunned for words.

Mudavadi recounted how locals hijacked their One Kenya Alliance tour to Trans Nzoia County after they ganged up on two former Vice Presidents -  demanding that they contribute to the medical bill of a soccer player from the region.

Mudavadi stated that he and Kalonzo were accosted by a group of men who blocked their way, insisting that they give to former Sofapaka middle fielder Wisdom Naya, as he is currently ailing from cancer, and is not financially capable to cater for his medical bill.

"I'm saddened with the state of our systems that has pushed Kenyans to the point of holding leaders hostage forcefully demanding for their contributions to medical appeals," he stated in the interview.

The leader observed that these actions are represented the bad state of the nation, where the state of the economy forces the public to coerce leaders to offer contributions to their financial challenges.

He stated that the One National Alliance (OKA)'s priority would be to provide medical care to Kenyans, to avoid such incidents from recurring.

"If elected Musyoka and I will ensure that we stabilize the economy and grant Kenyans access to affordable medical care," he stated in the interview.

Naya who is currently bedridden suffers from Sarcoma, a severe type of cancer, that demands intense medical care, which has led his medical bill to accrue to Kshs2.5 million from chemotherapy, surgery and medical bills.

His friends and family recently held a fundraiser that saw ODM leader Raila Odinga give the footballer a contribution of Ksh500,000 during his past visit to Trans Nzoia county as well as Saboti MP Caleb Amisi also contributed Ksh100,000 to the treatment of the footballer.

His financial woes are also partly from his contract expiration that is scheduled for January 2022, after which he can no longer play for the team.

Musalia, Wetangula and Kalonzo were touring Trans Nzoia while Kanu's Gideon Moi campaigned for OKA in Elgeyo-Marakwet County in a bid to popularize the alliance in the rift.

This follows Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Wafula Chebukati stating on Wednesday, December 1, that 2022 election aspirants will not be allowed to participate in fundraisers from Thursday, December 9.
