Transport was paralyzed for hours along Waiyaki Way after residents took to the streets on Tuesday morning, December 7, to protest the killing of six people by a police officer.
In a video seen by Kenyans.co.ke, the protestors barricaded the road at the Mountain View mall near Kangemi. A section of them could be seen piling up tires, rocks, and stones while others lit bonfires making the road impassable.
A long traffic snarl up built up as motorists halted their vehicles while approaching the irate locals.

Armed with chants and raising high their helmets, a section of boda boda operators decried the injustice that saw six lives lost.
"It's high time that rogue police officers are called out for their insubordinate nature. This has gone too far to the point of killing innocent youth, yet the government keeps stating that they are protecting the citizens. When will this issue be solved once and for all?" an irate local spoke to the media.
The locals called upon the government to dispense justice and prevent such incidences from occurring again in the future.
The demonstrations erupted sporadically after news broke out that a police officer, attached to Kabete Police Station, went on a shooting spree killing six people.
Media reports indicated that the officer opened fire at the wee hours of the night in Kabete area before heading to his wife's business premises (a wines and spirits shop). He later asked her to close and go home.
In a turn of events, the officer is said to have picked a quarrel with his wife, whom he shot dead with his AK47 rifle. He then went to his vehicle and turned the gun on himself.
In what can be described as a bizarre incident, officers privy to the matter pointed out that the deceased had inflicted injuries on his wife before killing her.
"He inflicted injuries on the wife's neck before he went to his car before he put the cock of the gun on his chin and fired," an officer told Kenyans.co.ke.
Details of the incident and the motive behind the officer's killing spree are yet to be uncovered as investigations are yet to be concluded.
The mental state of police officers have been a cause for concern amongst many Kenyans. This saw the police hire 50 psychologists to be deployed within all the counties in order to assess the mental state of police officers.
