Murang'a Governor Mwangi wa Iria has started the process of giving one cow to every Kenyan citizen as part of his 2022 presidential campaign strategy.

Speaking in a TV interview, the county boss noted that in as much as the exercise was his campaign strategy, he would initiate the process immediately.

He further noted that all aspirants seeking to use his Usawa Party to ascend into power must be aligned with his goal of ensuring that each homestead gets a cow.

To prove his seriousness, he noted that those who won't align themselves with the goal will not be allowed into the party.

"If you want to vie under my party’s ticket you will have to donate cows for the cause. We will sit down as the Usawa party and determine the number of cows MCA, Senatorial and Gubernatorial aspirants will donate.

"If you don’t do this then you will be barred from contesting under my party’s ticket,” he explained.

He further explained that his campaign strategy was aimed at alleviating poverty in a similar fashion other candidates have made promises to ensure every household has a Ksh6,000 stipend.

“Some say that they will give out Ksh.6,000 to the needy but my government will provide every Kenyan citizen with a cow.

"One home, one cow, and I will make this come true. I want to start it before being elected as President,” he explained.

The campaigns season is now getting to feverpitch, politicians are spinning all sorts of promises to woo voters.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has defended his decision to give unemployed Kenyans Ksh6,000 monthly stipend noting that the state had enough money to set up the Ksh100 billion Social Welfare Fund.

He revealed that the promise to poor households would be funded through budget cuts as well as money recovered from the proceeds of graft.

Deputy President William Ruto, on the other hand, promises a bottom-up approach in which resources wll be availed to Kenyans at the grassroots level first. He calls it the wheelbarrow economy.
