Nominated Member of Parliament, David Ole Sankok, says he will be leading a team of like-minded individuals to file a case in court in order to bar the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, Raila Odinga, from contesting in the August 9, 2022 polls.

Speaking on Saturday, January 8, at the Eldoret Sports Club, Sankok claimed that Raila was not fit to become Kenya's next President.

Sankok told Eldoret residents that Raila should not be allowed on the ballot, alleging that he was involved in the 1982 coup attempt.

He opined that Raila also allowed his allies to swear him in as the people's president in 2018 and this was against the law and in contravention of the constitution and that it jeopardized the presidency of Uhuru Kenyatta.

"I am moving to the court because Raila should not be allowed to vie in Kenya, and even if he wins I don't think the army can hand over power to him. If they do that, they will have set a very bad precedent in Kenya," Sankok stated.

The nominated MP, who was drumming up support for Deputy President William Ruto, blamed Raila for the skirmishes that are witnessed in the country every election cycle as he urged residents to desist from voting for him.

Ruto's allies thronged Eldoret Sports Club grounds to campaign for him with Bahati MP, Onesmus Kimani Ngunjiri, on Friday, January 7, asking Eldoret residents to allow the DP to focus on national politics henceforth.

The lawmaker was speaking during a meeting convened by United Democratic Alliance (UDA)-allied politicians ahead of the January 8 mega rally.

Ngunjiri noted that their (Eldoret residents') small issues should not involve Ruto since he has bigger issues to think about.

"All I'm asking you is that you release the DP from tomorrow (Saturday). Your small issues are things that can be solved easily. Kitchen matters should not be referred to a person of his stature. Don't involve him at all," he remarked.

He stated that Ruto had traversed the country and planned to unite all Kenyans if he is elected President in 2022.

"Right now I can tell you, other than UDA, there is no party that has any signs of uniting Kenyans because they are led by tribal chiefs. Some are even referring to themselves as presidential candidates yet they can't be elected as MCAs. It's not logical."
