Amani National Congress (ANC) issued a statement minutes after Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala received a heroic welcome at the Eldoret Sports Club.

In the statement sent to newsrooms on Saturday, January 8, ANC secretary-general Simon Gakuru declared that the party had no business with the event hosted on behalf of Deputy President William Ruto.

Gakuru further stated that the party had not sent Malala to represent them, although, in his brief speech, the Kakamega senator claimed that he was representing his party leader Musalaia Mudavadi.

ANC announced that any communications on alliances with other parties will be communicated officially by Mudavdai which refuted the sentiments expressed by Senator Malala.

"The ANC party would like to disassociate itself with the activities taking place at Eldoret Sports Club Grounds where UDA Party is holding its rally.

"ANC has not sent anybody to represent either the party or the Party Leader in the said function. The official party position should only come from Party Leader or the Secretary-General," the statement by ANC read.

Malala received a heroic welcome in Eldoret where Uasin Gishu Governor, Jackson Mandago, gave him a new Kalenjin name (Kiprotich) to signal his support and willingness to work with Ruto.

The senator told the congregation that ANC will have a national delegates meeting where they will endorse Mudavadi and give him the power to seek coalition partnerships with other people including DP Ruto.

He acknowledged that although ANC is part of the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) they will not be limited while seeking coalition partners.

"If Musalia Mudavadi comes to Uasin Gishu to look for friends and he finds this man called hustler is that wrong?" he posed.

OKA principals on Wednesday, January 5,  issued a statement dispelling claims they had been invited for coalition talks by United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and DP Ruto.

Addressing the press, Mudavadi stated that OKA had not been formally invited to form a pact by either ODM leader Raila Odinga or DP Ruto as earlier reported.

Mudavadi stated they will deal with the coalition issue when they get the invites from either Azimio La Umoja which is backing Raila Odinga or UDA which is fronting Ruto.
