Kiminini Member of Parliament, Chris Wamalwa, has revealed intricate details of a scuffle at Hemingways hotel, Nairobi, hours before Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi's highly publicized event.
Speaking during Daybreak on Citizen TV, the FORD Kenya Secretary General noted that the issue arose from Wiper party members over invitation cards.
"We had a meeting in Hemingways and there was a lot of push and pull. When we were going (to Bomas), the issue of invitation cards came into play," Wamalwa stated.
The issue was expounded by Kathiani MP and Wiper party member, Robert Mbui, who pointed an accusing finger at Wamalwa and the ANC brigade for getting the short end of the stick.
Mbui, who claimed that Wiper got 15 invitation cards, posed why the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) members were handed more than 300 cards.
Mbui termed the event as a UDA meeting as opposed to an OKA meeting.
Responding to the allegations, Wamalwa disputed the claims- noting that the invitation cards were sent on an availability basis.
"Some members were there and they didn't have an invitation card. It was said for Members of Parliament that they did not need to carry their cards, they ought to give it to other NEC members who are not known.
"As the Secretary General, we were given the number of cards depending on the availability of the people who will accompany the party leader. As FORD Kenya, I requested 30 cards and we got exactly that," Wamalwa noted.
The discord between One Kenya Alliance (OKA) members played out at the Bomas event when Wiper party leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, and his KANU counterpart, Gideon Moi, stormed out minutes after UDA members arrived.
The two later issued a statement through OKA spokesperson, Fredric Okango, stating that they had parted ways with Mudavadi.
"We (OKA) have today walked out of Mudavadi's 'earthquake' meeting. Our principals Hon Kalonzo Musyoka and Hon Gideon Moi out of respect honoured his invitation as a coprincipal to attend the Bomas event and congratulated him for being nominated by his party to go and look for more friends," read part of the statement.
