Citizen TV Anchors' Little-Known Siblings and Their Careers

Citizen TV, owned by Royal Media Services (RMS), boasts of top-rated talent. Over the years, the media personalities have earned recognition for their storytelling skills and award-winning shows. 

Although much is known about the media personalities, little is known about their siblings who have also made great strides in different fields. 

Kenyans.co.ke reveals the identities of the siblings of top anchors at Citizen TV and the career paths that they chose.

Victoria Rubadiri

She is an award-winning anchor who hosts a prime time show dubbed Sunday Live on Citizen TV.

Before she joined RMS, Rubadiri was an anchor at NTV. She has also worked as a presenter and business journalist at Capital FM.

On the other hand, her younger sister Mabel Rubadiri works with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme as a consultant. 

Mabel has also worked as a research consultant for Rift Valley Institute, The Grass Company and The Policy Practice Limited.

She holds an undergraduate degree in International Relations and Affairs from the United States International University (USIU). Rubadiri's sister also has a Master from the University of Oxford.

In 2016, she won the Winihin Jemide Series Grant Prize for Research on Women in African Government and Politics.

Waihiga Mwaura

He is a Managing Editor and hosts a political talk show dubbed News Night on Citizen TV.

Waihiga previously worked as a sports anchor at the same station as a sports reporter and won the inaugural Mo Amin award for an investigative sports piece on doping in Kenya.

His brother Ngubuini Mwaura chose a different career path and works with an international non-profit organisation known as Educate where he serves as the Global Designer.

Ngubuini worked as the Director and Program Consultant at Inuka Leadership Africa for six and a half years before he joined Educate.

Ngubuini, who holds an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Africa Nazarene University, has also been a program manager at Andela - a firm that helps companies build remote engineering teams by providing them with access to the best software engineers in the world.

Mashirima Kapombe

She works at Citizen TV as a Swahili news anchor. Before she joined RMS, Mashirima worked as a reporter and anchor at NTV.

Mashiriba's career sprouted after her three months internship at the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC). 

On the other hand, her sister Fiona Sidi Kapombe works as a food and beverage manager at one of Kenya's leading restaurants. 

The younger Kapombe was a part-time lecturer at Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) between 2017 and 2019 and a quality assurance analyst at Khetia Drapers Limited between 2016 and 2017.

Fiona has an undergraduate degree in Food Science and Technology from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) and a Master of Business Administration from the Univerity of South Wales. 

She went to Alliance Girls and scored a mean grade of A-minus.

Jamila Mohamed

She is a Swahili anchor and Managing Editor at Citizen TV.

Jamila previously worked at Nation Media Group where she served as the Managing Editor at QTV, news editor and anchor.

On the other hand, her younger brother, who is an alumnus of the University of Nairobi (UoN), is a medical doctor.

Rashid Abdalla

He is a Swahili news anchor at Citizen TV. Before joining RMS, he served as a TV and radio presenter at Nation Media Group (NMG).

His brother, Bamsuley Abdalla, is a sergeant in the National Police Service (NPS) with a career spanning 12 years.

Bamsuley has a Diploma in Security Management from the Kenya Institute of Studies in Criminal Justice.

He attended Khamis High school where he was famous for playing football.
