Mathira Member Parliament (MP), Rigathi Gachagua, has told President Uhuru Kenyatta to be ready to answer hard questions when he visits Mt Kenya in the coming days.

Speaking during a rally in Kirinyaga on Saturday, January 29, the lawmaker, who was Uhuru's personal assistant in the 2000s, also asked him to explain how he intends to make Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga the fifth president of Kenya.

"Mr President, I want to say this, we were with you in 2002. We were with William Ruto and Musalia Mudavadi. We tried all ways but it could not work.

"How do you intend to force Raila on the people of Kenya. If it could not work 20 years, just how do you intend to go about it? I don't understand," Gachagua observed.

The vocal legislator added that the region was eagerly waiting for Uhuru's visit because they need the Head of State to clarify some issues.

He noted that the president had been away from the region for a long time and that when he finally visits, he should explain to the region why he fell out with Deputy President William Ruto.

"Uhuru, you said you will come to Mt. Kenya and explain to sell Raila as your preferred choice and reveal why you fell out with Ruto. We welcome you, we are waiting for you on the ground. Don't take long. We have missed you. Since we elected you, you deserted us and joined hands with Raila. Come home and explain what went wrong," Gachagua explained.

The lawmaker also revealed that the region has some critical issues that they needed the president to address including who grabbed land belonging to the Mau Mau and how he plans to give back the land to the original owners.

"We have so many questions Mr President that we would like you to answer. Please don't take long. If it's possible please come next week.

"We elected you when you had a lot of problems. We elected you when you had been accused at the International Criminal Court (ICC). Why are you accusing other leaders and you had been accused by white people. God helped you and we prayed," he remarked.

His sentiments were echoed by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro who observed that the president should also explain how Mt Kenya people wronged him that he decided to neglect them after being elected.
