KTN news anchor Mary Kilobi, on Wednesday, February 9, blasted politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto for using her name in their political campaigns.

In a statement seen by Kenyans.co.ke, Kilobi shunned the antics noting that they should instead sell their manifestos.

The KTN anchor specifically named former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa and Kimilili Member of Parliament Didmus Barasa for maligning her name Kilobi during their campaign tours across the country.

She claimed that the two had dragged her name into their political endeavours even though she was neither a politician nor was she running for any seat in the General Election.

Kilobi decried that those who were targeting her had been her guests at her matrimonial home in Ildamat home - the home she shares with her husband - Cotu Secretary General Francis Atwoli who has since fallen out with the politicians rooting for Ruto.

"It's hilarious that some politicians, the likes of Rashid Echesa and Didmus Barasa have continuously made this Kilobi name inseparable with their manifesto in their rallies. I know it sounds really nice but Kenyans are eager to hear the "great plans" you purport to have for them.

"You don't have a manifesto? Sell your manifesto and shun from using Kilobi's as I'm not a politician neither do I have plans of contesting. Ironically, most guys who shout the loudest about Kilobi the "25-year-old" have been frequent visitors in Kajiado," an irked kilobi ranted.

Her remarks come after Atwoli, recently chastised the deputy president - stating that he was old enough to become his father.

The remarks came during the launch of the Universal Health Care (UHC) in Mombasa County on Monday, February 7.

Atwoli urged Ruto's team to prepare his Sugoi home after the 2022 General Election as he would ultimately lose the contest.

"In 1966, I was finishing my Form Four and at that time we were full adults. After six months I was employed when he was only six months old. If I had met his mother, I would have been the father," he stated.

In a rejoinder, the UDA team faulted the COTU boss for his comments - terming them as reckless and unnecessary.

"The remarks by their ‘ancient campaign expert’ Francis Atwoli, are completely unnecessary and go against the tenets of democracy. For Kenyans inflicted with violence and death including in the context of elections, this is not a laughing matter," Ruto's campaign team noted.

The remarks were not taken kindly by Atwoli who retorted with a comment directed at Ruto's director of Communications, Hussein Mohamed.

"Somebody should tell Hussein Muhamed that I am COTU(K), Secretary General I have an office and I have no office in Azimio. He should address me correctly if he’s to help JUDA," he pointed out.
