In December 2003, a little known village school made headlines in Kenya after producing two students who not only topped the Kenya Certificate of Primary Examination (KCPE) that year, but also made history by getting the highest marks ever recorded in the country's examinations.

The two students were Marita Nyakundi Calvin and Ogendi Moraa Rose who got  482 and 481 marks respectively out of the possible 500. The two had an average score translating to 97 per cent in each of the five papers written. To date, no one has ever outsmarted the two.

Behind that stellar success, is a school that is tucked deep inside Nyandarua County, Busara Academy. The institution broke the monotony in success and placed Nyandarua County on the national map, attracting accolades from far and wide.

The institution prides itself in having a rich history and vibrant culture that stretches for more than three decades. Its Christian foundation has attracted top brains with most parents willing to invest in their kids' education in the school.

Busara Academy consists of three sections; Early Child Education, Primary School, and Secondary School. The teaching approach is unique as it basically focuses on almost every practical approach to life while incorporating Information Communication and Technology (ICT) to expose the learners to new developments in the world.

"At Busara, we strive to ensure that the learners receive an all round educational experience. We utilize the best teaching methods as well as ICT integration to expose our learners to the global village.

"Our purpose is to empower them so that they can conquer the challenges posed by an ever expanding, ever developing  world," the school states on its website.

It also gives priority to developing talents of learners that get admitted to the institution. So far Busara Academy offers piano, keyboard, guitar, drums and other musical instruments classes to the students.

Other activities in the school include journalism, scouts, Christian Union, Environmental club, drama, singing, dancing, karate, art club and homemakers.

Their fees structure varies admitting students from all classes of life into the institution.
