The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has denounced a list of campaign officials doing rounds on social media.

In a statement dated Friday, March 4, Raila Odinga Presidential Campaign Spokesperson, Prof Makau Mutua, denounced reports by a section of the media that the ODM party had put in place a full team to run Raila's State House campaign.

Mutua termed as irresponsible by a section of the media to try and draft members of various organs and structures into Raila's team.

The American-taught legal scholar termed the list as misleading and non-factual, adding that any appointments will be officially communicated through his office.

"I have noted a number of press reports purporting to name officials of various organs and structures in the Raila Odinga Presidential Campaign. I want to clarify that those reports are misleading and in many cases simply incorrect.

"We are still constituting our campaign structures and will officially communicate to the press when we are done doing so," read his statement.

Mutua, a Director at the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC), was appointed to the position of the Spokesperson on March 1 and is mandated to head the former Premier's campaign think tank. He is the latest addition to the team.

On February 13, Raila appointed veteran journalist, Dennis Onsarigo, as the Press Secretary of his campaign secretariat. Onsarigo's 14-year experience in journalism and academic qualifications earned him the position in Raila's team.

"Onsarigo will coordinate all media relations needs of the secretariat media engagement and management, media liaison between the former and coalition partners, as well as work closely with mainstream media in the dissemination of news and information," the former Prime Minister wrote at the time of appointment.

On January 5, President Uhuru Kenyatta's handshake partner picked President (Rtd) Mwai Kibaki's nephew and Laikipia Governor, Ndiritu Muriirthi and Elizabeth Meyo, a consultant with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to his campaign team.

Muriithi is the chairperson of Raila Odinga's campaign board while Meyo is the campaign's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Secretary to the board.

"Meyo will be the overall chief executive of the campaign, implement its strategic and key decisions, head the campaign secretariat, and make all vital decisions. She will be the sole campaign spokesperson," the statement read in part.
