Kenya Railways Corporation announced a delay in one of its routes in Nairobi on Friday, March 11.
In a message shared on their official social media pages, the corporation detailed that the train plying Embakasi Village station scheduled for 7:00 a.m would experience delays.
They noted that the delay would be caused by a technical problem on one of its locomotives covering the route.
The train which covers Embakasi village picks commuters before heading to Nairobi Central Station as its final destination.
"We anticipate a delay on the 0700 hrs Embakasi Village station to Nairobi Central station train due to a technical challenge with the locomotive. Our technical teams are working to resolve the issue. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused," Kenya Railways stated.
Kenya Railways apologised for the inconvenience caused and assured the commuters that the hitch would be resolved to prevent future inconveniences.
By the time of this publication, Kenya Railways had not indicated whether the problem had been resolved and services restored.
The Nairobi Commuter Railway trains cover various routes including Syokimau, Athi River, Ruiru, Embakasi, Kikuyu and SGR Nairobi Terminus.
Each of the routes has its own designated fare charges ranging from Ksh40 to Ksh80 with the Athi River route charging the highest.
The trains are scheduled to depart from different stations at different departure times and arrive at their intended destinations at the scheduled time.
Each couch on the trains accommodates at least 64 commuters. The trains operate from Monday to Friday except for the DMUs that operate on weekends and during public holidays.
To further improve its services, Kenya Railways is set to acquire 7 more trains that will ply different city routes and others meant for the Kisumu route.
