A former news anchor at Media Max recounted how he found out that he was being fired by the media house.
Moses Kanyiri stated that he was informed of the decision to let him go while he was reading the lunchtime bulletin at Kameme FM.
According to the media personality, the decision to fire him did not shock him very much due to the working environment at the company.
Kanyiri recalled that he had to inform listeners that he was leaving Kameme FM after he finished reading the news. He also accused some of his former colleagues of plotting against him.
"My enemies while I was working in this company worked really hard to have me sacked. Well, to their liking I was laid off. Unfortunately, it happened while I was presenting 1 PM news.
"I managed to finish the bulletin and bid my fans goodbye. As I stepped out of the studio, one of these enemies knelt down as a way of sympathising with me," he alleged.
The media personality claimed that he had earlier been tasked with training a new intern and upon his exit, this person took over his position.
"Before this, there came a junior news reporter whom I was tasked to train how to operate different machines. The junior journalist is a nephew to one of the ‘FM’ presenters who is a word minister and I knew he was to replace me," Kanyiri stated.
He recalled that although he was worried about the next move he landed a greater role with another media house where he started off as the managing director.
The media personality stated that he suffered immensely during his time with the media house and he was at some point also suspended for 65 days. He further recalled that during the suspension his son was sitting for his KCPE exams and it affected him.
"Before we continue, the day I was suspended at work, my child was seating for KCPE exams the following day. There were plans for how my child will be informed that I have been suspended from work. Immediately my child got in the classroom and before starting exams, one lad and God forgive him, told my child while laughing, your father has been fired at work.
"My child was shocked until “they” urinated on self. Who is this person who had sent people to damage my child’s exam? That evening my child didn’t eat and even in the morning never took tea. After the exams, that’s when my child started crying asking me whether I was fired from work. I responded no but he told me he was told," he stated.
Kanyiri stated that despite the challenges the young boy faced he managed to excel in his KCPE exams and joined his dream school.
