Waihiga Mwaura's Sister Dies

The family of Citizen TV news anchor Waihiga Mwaura is in mourning following the death of his younger sister.

Singer Joyce Omondi and Waihiga's wife made the announcement through Instagram, eulogizing the late, Gathoni Mwaura for her virtuous life.

Joyce revealed that the demise of Gathoni has been difficult for her and further noted that it has been tough accepting the loss of Waihiga's younger sister.

"I have begun and erased this first sentence more times than I can count because I feel numb and speechless," Joyce shared.

"It's incredibly difficult trying to accept that our tender-hearted, witty, beautiful little sister, Gathoni, is suddenly no longer with us. Never had we imagined such a loss.

"Oh Lord, we fix our eyes on You. Our risen King, only You, your unfailing love and sufficient grace are the answer to this pain and sorrow," she continued.

Joyce did not divulge details about the cause of Gathoni's death.

Gathoni was a graduate of the Derby University, in the United Kingdom where she attained a Masters's Degree in Education in 2020.

Waihiga shared the news of his sister's graduation on social media as he celebrated the big milestones she was making in her career. 

The family celebrated Gathoni's achievements at home since she graduated virtually following the lockdown necessitated by the Covid-19 pandemic.

"So proud of my beautiful talented baby sister Gathoni Mwaura who graduated virtually with an MSc Education from Derby University earlier today. What a journey it has been. May God bless your latter years far beyond anything you could ever have expected," Waihiga remarked after his sister's graduation in 2020.

His brother Ngibuini Mwaura also celebrated Gathoni upon her graduation and further revealed that it was Gathoni's second Masters's degree.

"Congratulations to my baby sis for graduating remotely with a second master's, MSC Education, University of Derby," he shared.
