"I do not have the money and I want to see my employer so that they can tell us where the money was placed and how we managed to take it," one of the suspects pleaded.

According to the police, the two are said to have made away with a black bag from their employer's apartment which had $280,000 (Ksh32,488,400) from April 15-21.

Additionally, the domestic workers accused of taking 3 golden rings in the process. The value of the rings was not disclosed in court.

Upon collecting the property, the police launched a manhunt for seven days as the two were on the run.

Police Constable Pamela Kaari, told the court that the two suspects were arrested on separate dates as one of them had already travelled to Bungoma county.

It was further revealed that both suspects were arrested in possession of the money. The suspect arrested in Bungoma County had Ksh2 million while her counterpart arrested in Riruta had Ksh580,000.

The house keepers were slapped with a bond of Ksh5 million and a cash bail of Ksh2 million.

Detectives handling the case stated that they would continue with their investigations to unravel whether the duo solicited for help from other workers at the apartment.

It was explained that the two may have sought help from unknown individuals in the execution of the plan.
