CNN International Correspondent, Larry Madowo, has resurfaced after three months hiatus on social media.

Madowo, on Friday, May 20, announced that he had finally graduated in person at Columbia University after a two-year delay. He was pursuing a post-graduate degree program at the university’s Graduate School of Journalism.

“My in-person graduation from Columbia University was delayed by two years but it was still special.

“I came back to New York to confirm that my Master’s in Business and Economics Journalism was real. It is and they haven’t changed their minds,” he wrote.

On Tuesday, May 17, he underlined his growth while celebrating a one-year anniversary at CNN

“I'm one year old at CNN today. It's been an extraordinary year reporting and anchoring from 4 continents and I couldn't be more grateful.

But I'm an African first and I'd love to tell more of our stories,” he added, urging his followers to highlight stories they would love to see him cover.

The former BBC North America Correspondent graduated online in May 2020.

He also co-authored an MBA case study at Columbia Business School and emerged as the winner of the prestigious 2020 Philip Greer Award for Financial Writing.

Madowo has previously served as BBC Africa business editor and The Trend host on NTV.

He also took up several other journalistic roles at Nation Media Group, including hosting a show on Nation FM and writing a weekly column, Front Row, in the Daily Nation
