The Standard Media Group has made changes in its editorial department in a bid to reinforce its authority in the market as the country heads to the polls.

In a memo seen by Kenyans.co.ke, The Standard Group promoted several journalists in the raft of changes.

Former Citizen TV Swahili editor and published author, Nahashon Shisia Wasilwa, has been hired as the Programme Editor in charge of KTN's Swahili desk.

"As we prepare to cover the General Election, it has become necessary to address the various staffing gaps that we have in our converged newsroom. In line with this, we put out an internal advertisement for staff to apply for the various vacant positions that we had in the department," the memo read in part.

"The exercise yielded positive results with some staff moving up the ladder and a number of correspondents coming in as staff reporters."
