Christian Craighead, the British Special Air Service (SAS) member who saved lives during the Dusit D2 Hotel attack, is making more strides in the global defence network with his own gun.

The Brit, who recently unmasked his face, has announced that he designed a gun named after himself after drawing inspiration from his own life experiences in combat.

Named ZEV Technologies OZ9 Craighead, the new pistol has personalised details which from the soldier and is a work of partnership between him and ZEV Technologies, one of the global manufacturers of military equipment.

Craighead noted that he reached out to the organisation when he was nearing his retirement. Looking back, he noted that he first shot a person in combat using a pistol.

"As I was about to retire, I knew I was going to be shooting in the US so I reached out to ZEV and said 'I'm looking to make a gun can you help me out here?' That is where the idea of doing a collaboration started.

"The first time I shot someone in combat was with a pistol so I knew the importance of having a reliable (pistol)... It is extremely important to me that we have the right tools for the right job and for the right people out there," he stated.

Craighead is impressed with the striking, rugged outlook of the gun but insists that its functionality has been properly curated to serve its purpose on the battlefield.

He notes that the weapon is out-of-the-box ready, versatile, has a great grip, and has a good trigger system.

"Nothing on this weapon is accidental. Everything means something. The distances and numbers mean something. It is to note the things that happened in my life, nothing is by accident and everything is by design," he added.

It also spots the soldier's logo, CC, which is an abbreviation of his name and has the word Craighead engraved onto its surface.

In August, Craighead, a well-built man with rugged hair and a striking face, revealed his identity for the first time after establishing that a single photo of him at Dusit D2 along Riverside Drive, with his identity out, was becoming popular fast.

"I’m doing this earlier than I planned, but the actions of others have forced my hand into prematurely revealing my face.

"This photo and others like it are becoming increasingly available, so I thought I should be the one to share the first with you. Thank you to all those close to me who support, guide, assist, and keep me balanced during this time in my life," explained Craighead.

For a better part of his adult life, Craighead often masked his face or blurred himself in the photos he uploaded on his social media accounts. On Instagram, he has a following of 153,000 people.
