President Uhuru Kenyatta will be in full gear commissioning mega projects in various counties across the country to cement his legacy before the clock runs out in his presidential term.

Media reports indicate that the Head of State will tour Vihiga, Coast and Nyanza regions and his Mt Kenya backyard while campaigning for the Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate, Raila Odinga.

Further, Uhuru's tour of the Coast and Western regions, heavily touted as Raila's strongholds, will seek to reinforce the former premier's support and urge voters to come out in large numbers to exercise their constitutional rights.

The Head of State has toured Samburu, Laikipia, Nairobi and Nakuru counties within the past two weeks.

According to a report by Nation, he is expected to commission over 12 projects in his final days before leaving office.

Among the projects, he will launch include the renovated Kisumu shipyard and the MV Uhuru 2 Wagon ferry while on a Kisumu tour this coming week.

In the Central region, he will launch the Ksh27 billion Mau Mau Road, which traverses through four counties; Murang’a, Nyeri, Kiambu and Nyandarua.

The president has had a busy schedule, touring various counties while rallying his supporters behind his preferred successor, Raila Odinga.

On Sunday, July 31, he officially opened the Nairobi expressway to the public and other infrastructural projects. He also took the time to throw jabs at his deputy, William Ruto, who had claimed that Uhuru was allegedly plotting to assassinate his political rivals before the August 9 General Election.

Uhuru affirmed that he had no personal vendetta against anyone and urged his rivals to shift their focus on their campaign trail.

"You have insulted me for close three years, has anyone touched you? I was in office for those three years and did I not have the capability? Now that I want to hand over the government and I have limited powers, do you think I have time to look for you?

"Everyone, including myself, has the right to campaign for whoever they want. There is no reason for insults and If I answer you because you have lied. There is no reason to tell people I want to kill you," Uhuru stated.

For Ruto and Raila, it is a race against time before the legal campaign window closes 48 hours to August 9 polls. The Azimio leader will start his week in Kiambu, before heading to Kisii on Tuesday and to Kakamega on Wednesday. For Ruto, he will be in Uasin Gishu before storming to the Mt Kenya region.
