Chaos erupted at the Bomas of Kenya on the night of Saturday, August 13, during the ongoing tallying of the presidential results by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

Videos broadcast live from the National Tallying Centre showed an IEBC official being roughed up in the auditorium.

In the incident aired live on major TV stations in the country, a man was roughed up by security after bullying the IEBC official from his seat and dragging him away.

Commotion ensued as the official was seen holding a gadget in an apparent attempt to block a man from seizing it.

The gadget was the genesis of the chaos in the auditorium and Nairobi Women Rep Esther Passaris was seen dragging an individual amidst the drama.

Anti-riot police quickly swung into action eventually leading the man outside the auditorium.

Azimio’s chief agent took issue with happening inside the auditorium, making a strongly worded statement to the media regarding the credibility of the tallying process thus far.

Raila Odinga's chief agent Saitabao Ole Kanchory had clashed with police who had denied him access to the tallying area.

"I want to tell the country that Bomas is a scene of a crime," Saitabao stated before being he was escorted out of the podium by an unidentified person.

A scuffle ensured and disrupted IEBC officials at the verification tables but commissioner Francis Wanderi directed them to resume their work.

In a separate incident outside, party agents accosted an individual they claimed was an IEBC official allegedly engaged in electoral malpractice.

The woman was saved by police officers as party agents demanded she hands over what they claimed to be electoral material that she planned to sneak into the auditorium.

Following dramatic scenes witnessed earlier on Saturday, IEBC resolved to kick politicians out of the National Tallying Centre at the Bomas of Kenya.

Commissioner Abdi Guliye ordered politicians and anyone who had no specific duty to vacate the tallying centre where the verification of the Forms 34A and 34B is taking place.

Guliye stated that the directive was in line with IEBC's plan to hasten the verification process and reduce interference from unauthorised individuals including politicians.
