Roots party ex-running mate Justina Wamae hit out at party leader George Wajackoyah over his comments following the validation of William Ruto as the president-elect by the Supreme Court.

In a statement on Monday, September 5, Wamae ridiculed Wajackoyah, who claimed that he would take over the opposition to represent interests of the over six million voters who may be aggrieved by the court's decision.

In a veiled attack, Justina told the legal scholar that he barely had support from Kenyans, referring to the results announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission - IECB.

"Six million votes you say? Roots only got 61,969 votes. This was just a confirmation that he was a project. He was also looking for a job but placed a losing bet," Wamae stated.

The 35-year old claimed that the seven-judge-bench had vilified her from attacks by the Roots party and the former presidential candidate. She reiterated her congratulatory message to Ruto.

"Once again congratulations President Elect and Deputy President Elect. I have been vindicated. Even if they decided to kick me out of the party, we have 'already burned down the trees'," she stated, making reference to the party moto 'Tingiza Miti.'

While addressing the press at the Milimani Law Courts, Wajackoyah welcomed the judgement read by Chief Justice Martha Koome. He promised to perform the watchdog role to the incoming government.

"We had six million voters that are currently crying but I would advice them against it. As the official member of opposition, we are going to put Ruto's government into account," the former presidential hopeful stated.

Wamae's clap back comes within weeks of being served with summons to a disciplinary hearing by the Roots party. She was accused of making statements which were misconstrued to be that of the party.

"That you have in your utterances contradicted yourself on Citizen Digital and the KTN and recounted the contradiction hence your allegiance to the party manifesto is questionable.

"Due to your continuous misrepresentation of the Party’s stand, the Party has suffered public ridicule and disrepute... It is in our knowledge that you have continuously disassociated yourself with the Party and its ideologies," read the letter in part.

However, Wajackoyah's deputy declared that she would not attend the disciplinary hearing. On August 30, Wajackoyah announced that Yagnik Vinod Ramji would assume office as  be the Deputy Party leader.
