Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua used a new Toyota Land Cruiser LC 300 series while heading to Kasarani for President William Ruto's inauguration.

Gachagua, who was sworn in alongside his boss, will enjoy state privileges such as protection by the Recce squad, state motorcade and briefing by the National Advisory Security Council (NASC).

The Land Cruiser 300 Gachagua used trades at around Ksh 23 million in Kenya.

This model succeeded the old Land Cruiser 200 that swept Kenya and most parts of Africa by storm.

The Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) comes with 3.3-litre diesel and 3.5-litre petrol V6 engines which are turbocharged.

As compared to its predecessor which was popularly known as "V8", the new LC 300 is more efficient at high speeds with the ability to spin at 1,700 revolutions per minute at 140 kilometres per hour.

It is also 199 kilograms lighter than the LC 200 hence a better weight distribution. The lighter weight helps it in providing a lower centre of gravity.

Further, the manufacturers of the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser improved its off-roading ability with an enhanced multi-terrain monitor which displays all the obstacles on the way as well as a multi-terrain select which guides the driver on the best driving mode for the terrain.

The LC 300 is fitted with the Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System (KDSS) which is connected to the anti-roll bars and hence provides the necessary stability for the vehicle.

It has a capacity of seven people and ample space to carry luggage whilst still giving the passengers ample leg room.

The four-wheel drive will be part of Gachagua's sophisticated motorcade in his new status as the country's second in command.

His motorcade will also feature superbike outriders and high-end vehicles.
