President William Ruto has in the last week made various changes at State House following his inauguration on Tuesday, September 13.
Notably, four changes were witnessed in the photos shared on State House social media pages by the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU).
Some changes evoked mixed reactions as Ruto sets to stamp his authority at State House, following ex-president, Uhuru Kenyatta's exit.
Portrait
Upon leaving office, President Uhuru Kenyatta's portrait was replaced with Ruto's to signify a change of guard.
Notably, Ruto's official portrait was unveiled during his inauguration moments after Uhuru handed over the instruments of power to his successor.
The change in the portrait was noted when Ruto was officially signing documents in his office to appoint the six judges hours after his inauguration.
Consequently, Ruto's portrait was made available to the public with the Department of Communication's sub-county offices selling them at Ksh300.
Presidential Standard
Additionally, changes were made to the presidential standard hang at State House. Ruto unveiled his standard during his inauguration - a flag lag used in many countries as a symbol of the head of state.
The change of the standard was done minutes after Ruto arrived at State House for his inauguration party.
Ruto's standard is yellow in colour with the symbol of a wheelbarrow, an emblem associated with the United Democratic Party Alliance (UDA).
On the other hand, Uhuru's standard was navy blue in colour with a dove- which was a symbol for the Jubilee party.
State House official page
Minutes after his inauguration, profile pictures on the social media pages were changed from, a picture of State House to that of William Ruto.
However, after an uproar from a section of Kenyans, the profile was reverted to a State House photo with Ruto's presidential standard and the East African Community (EAC) flag visible.
Another communication change that was effected was the closure of the presidential website used by PSCU under Uhuru's regime to release statements.
The website contents have since been replaced with Ruto's presidential portrait and standard, signifying that his team is working around the clock to modify the page.
Changes that could be made to the website include, colour and design. Notably, Uhuru used navy blue as a theme colour borrowed from the theme of his presidential standard.
With Ruto yet to make major appointments at State House, former Citizen TV anchor Kanze Dena is still holding her position as the State House spokesperson.
Changes in the department are most likely to be witnessed in the coming weeks with sources indicating that Hussein Mohammed could replace Kanze Dena.
Hussein served as the WSR Presidential Secretariat Director of Communications during the campaigns.
Other positions to be filled also include State House chief of staff, deputy chief of staff and political advisor among others.
Mounted Photos
Prior to his inauguration, Ruto was oriented to State House by Uhuru as has been the tradition over the years.
Notably, on that day, Uhuru's photos mounted on State House walls were missing.
Also noted was the change of seats in the President's office at State House.
