Omanyala, 6 Others to Earn Ksh100K Monthly in NOCK Scholarship Plan

Africa's fastest man Ferdinand Omanyala is among seven individual set to benefit from a scholarship by the National Olympics Committee of Kenya - NOCK.

While presenting cheques to the seven athletes, NOCK Secretary-General Francis Mutuku noted that the team will receive a monthly stipend of Ksh100,000 for two years until July 2024.

He further noted that the athletes will undergo a training in preparation for the upcoming Paris Olympics in 2024.

Omanyala was selected alongside Beatrice Chebet, Nicholas Kipkorir, Jacob Krop and Margaret Kipkemboi Chelimo among others.

"With that, they will maintain preparation and continue competing clean. For as long as they are on the path to Olympics, the money will be there every month," stated Mutuku.

Omanyala noted that the development was a boost to the athletes for adept preparation before the highly-anticipated event.

He further maintained that his eyes were set at winning the Olympics.

"My main aim is to win the 2024 olympics 100 metres and this support comes in handy. As much as there is some other support, this one comes in handy and I believe it will go a long way in helping me prepare," he told the press.

Preparation in Paris are in high gear for the Olympics slated to take place in the summer of 2024.

So far, the marathon route has already been unveiled and it will kick off at the ​​Hotel de Ville, pass by the Versailles and end at Les Invalides. 

Other sites o the route are the Opéra Garnier, Place Vendôme, Jardin des Tuileries, Pyramides du Louvre, Place de la Concorde, Grand Palais, Jardins du Trocadéro, Château de Versailles and Tour Eiffel among others.

The marathon will be 42.195km.
