Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) CEO Dr Ezekiel Mutua has attributed his success in government and abroad to a meeting with renowned Bishop Thomas Jakes alias T.D. Jakes in 2005.

At a time when Mutua did not see eye to eye with the late president Mwai Kibaki's administration, he was sidelined by most government officials and had bad press.

While recounting the events of that year, Mutua, on Thursday, October 6, said he was iced out by the government for the role he played to expose the Anglo Leasing scandal in partnership with the then British High Commissioner Sir Edward Clay.

"I felt strongly that my destiny was somehow tied to this great preacher (T.D. Jakes) who was impacting millions globally," he recalled.

At the press briefing held at the Grand Regency Hotel now Laico Regency, Mutua tried to be noticed by the televangelist but was pushed away by the security personnel.

However, T.D. Jakes noticed him, he warmly smiled at Mutua before shaking his hand and uttering "God bless you" to the policymaker.

"That handshake and the blessing spoken by the Bishop would open doors to my destiny in ways I cannot tell,"  Mutua stated.

"The same Government that was fighting me would later give me a job as Director of Information and Public Communications and by dint of the post I would have the opportunities to serve in the UN Secretary General's Committee on Information," he added.

The former Kenya Films Copyright Board (KFCB) CEO also attributed his appointment as Vice Chairman of UNESCO's Communications Committee in Paris to the divine meeting.

"There is something powerful about physically connecting with destiny shapers and letting them speak a blessing on you. Look for your destiny connector today and let them speak a blessing on you," he advised.

Mutua who accused a section of government officials of sabotaging his career and dragging him to court was grateful to Bishop Mark Kariuki for the invite to the press conference.

"Despite the bad publicity and fabricated court cases, the Bishop invited me to the press briefing for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for me," he recounted.
